M42 Names Ahmed Al Mehiri General Manager of Environmental Sciences to Strengthen Public Health Innovation and Environmental Stewardship

  • Al Mehiri brings over 30 years of leadership experience across Abu Dhabi’s top government and strategic entities.
  • His appointment marks a pivotal step in M42’s drive to scale Environmental Sciences into a global center of excellence in environmental stewardship.

On the sidelines of the Water Quality Forum, M42, a global health leader powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), technology, and genomics, announced the appointment of Ahmed Al Mehiri as General Manager of Environmental Sciences (EVS) within its Integrated Health Solutions platform.

M42’s Integrated Health Solutions platform drives national programs and population health initiatives, addressing global health challenges through precision, prevention, and predictive care. As a core pillar of Integrated Health Solutions, EVS plays a critical role in advancing environmental resilience and public health innovation.

Under Al Mehiri’s leadership, EVS will accelerate innovation to tackle complex environmental health challenges, develop smarter and more sustainable systems, and reinforce M42’s position at the forefront of science-led environmental action. The division spans regulatory-grade testing, national biological and chemical surveillance, environment DNA (eDNA) monitoring, and AI-enabled decision support – connecting environmental signals to real-time public health action.

Priority EVS workstreams include wastewater analysis and wastewater-based epidemiology to monitor chemical and biological risks; air and water quality monitoring and risk management (including Legionella surveillance in high-risk facilities), and food safety conformity assessments in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi’s Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC) to strengthen import, market, and retail controls. EVS also operates AI-powered laboratory platforms and dashboards that automate test workflows, aggregate multi-source environmental data, and generate regulatory-ready insights to support policy and enforcement.

Dr. Fahed Al Marzooqi, CEO of Integrated Health Solutions at M42, said: “We’re pleased to have Ahmed Al Mehiri join M42 as General Manager of Environmental Sciences. Ahmed is widely respected for his ability to align people, technology, and processes to deliver transformative solutions. His leadership will be instrumental in establishing Environmental Sciences as a globally recognized center of excellence, advancing our mission to protect health, drive innovation, and redefine the future of environmental stewardship.”

Al Mehiri brings over 30 years of leadership experience across some of Abu Dhabi’s most strategic government and private sector entities. For the past decade, he held multiple senior roles at the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, most recently serving as Advisor, where he led national cybersecurity alignment and risk policy development. Earlier, as Senior Project Manager, he played a key role in shaping resilience frameworks and operational strategies, including the government’s COVID-19 response. Prior to this, he served as Strategic Project Director at Al Rowad Co., overseeing multimillion-dirham digital transformation programs and managing multi-stakeholder programs across teams, vendors, and partners.

Ahmed Al Mehiri, General Manager, Environmental Sciences, M42, said: “I’m thrilled to be joining M42 at a time when environmental science is taking center stage in shaping the future of global health. The opening of the Water Quality Forum today underscores just how critical this moment is, not only for water security, but for advancing how we protect communities, ecosystems, and future generations. I look forward to joining the team and, together, building a world-class Environmental Sciences platform that drives breakthrough innovation, informs policy, and delivers tangible impact where it matters most.”

Ahmed Al Mehiri’s appointment was announced as the Water Quality Forum 2025 opened in Abu Dhabi, a landmark event co-hosted by M42’s Environmental Sciences division and the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC). This strategic step underscores M42’s commitment to advancing environmental science as a pillar of public health innovation. In partnership with ADQCC and other key stakeholders, M42 is shaping an integrated, technology-driven approach to environmental resilience that supports national priorities and delivers meaningful impact for communities across the region.
