Established in 2006 by Mubadala in partnership with the UK’s Imperial College London, Imperial College London Diabetes Centre specializes in treating all types of diabetes and endocrine disorders, as well as focusing on diabetes research, training, and public health awareness. The Center, which operates three branches across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, has gained international recognition for its holistic approach to the treatment of diabetes and related complications that enables patients to receive the full spectrum of care in one place.

    More specialized doctors under one roof than any other diabetes center in the UAE with more than 65 physicians, of which 60% have been trained or have worked in the United Kingdom and 68% speak Arabic.

    In collaboration with international academics at Imperial College London, the University of Oxford and the University of Groningen (the Netherlands), to name a few, Imperial College London Diabetes Centre’s research institute conducts research that concentrates on genetic, behavioral and psychological factors of diabetes and its complications, with research teams covering specific areas of medical and scientific concern in the region.

    Accreditations

    • Earned the Gold Seal of Approval® from the Joint Commission International (JCI) for both the JCI Clinical Care Program Certification (CCPC) for Diabetes Management and the JCI Accreditation for Ambulatory Care.
    • European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) accredited.
    • Approved as a Centre of Excellence by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF).
